Education
Helen graduated from the Music Performance Programme in 2001 (Master of Fine Arts in Music Performance) at the Academy of Music and Drama, where she studied with, among others, Professor Mats Widlund. She also earned her teaching degree at the same institution: a Master of Education in Music, and is a certified music teacher accredited by the Swedish National Agency for Education. Helen performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist, with western Sweden as her base.
Helen has participated in masterclasses with Professor Hans Leygraf, Liisa Pohjola, Hans Pålsson, Greta Eriksson, among others, and has also studied with Hamish Milne in London. These studies were made possible through scholarships from the Borås Cultural Committee, Borås Orchestra Association, the University of Gothenburg, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and the Gothenburg Freemasons Society.
Concert series & Festivals
Helen is driven by a strong commitment to creating new meeting places for classical music. Asartistic producer and pianist, she is behind several concert series, including Encounters with Classical Masters.
In March 2023, the premiere of her concert programme Hidden Gems — featuring music by female composers, was highlighted by Sveriges Radio P2. For her piano concert series, Helen has received grants from the Helge Ax:son Johnson Foundation (2023 and 2024), the Wärenstam Foundation (2025), and the Längman Cultural Foundation (2026).
Helen has also appeared at ’Festspelen i Piteå” and performed as soloist in Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Borås Symphony Orchestra.
Lecturer & Course leader
In May 2024, the book Mental Strength for Music Artists by Igor Ardoris was published by Ekerlids Förlag, in which Helen contributed as one of the co-authors.
Mental strength and stage presence, with the aim of “performing at one’s best under pressure” are among Helen’s core passions, helping performing artists develop a sustainable professional life. Helen has completed courses with the internationally active mental coach and author Igor Ardoris, and together they offer courses for performing artists on this subject.
Helen teaches piano, and stage presence at the Music Programme at Helsjön Folk High School, and in addition to classical music, she also has a strong interest in other musical genres.
